Rufus Goodstriker Sr. and his Wife Celina were the driving force behind the success of the camp, but they didn't do it alone. Rufus has left the Crossbell Concept to son Leon as a last wish. Leon has reached out and had an extremely positive response. From a marketing perspective, my perspective, the CROSSBELL name recognition is unmistakable and the memories fond.
But in the 'old days' there were no safeguards. Modern times means insurance if horses are involved, and horses were the heart of Crossbell.
The most feasible course for this new project to proceed would be a non-profit organization with a board of directors. Leon is happy to use his land for a base of operations and the log cabin for meetings. The Board might explore applying for use permits if the project needs to use other spaces like the old camp site in the mountains for two or three week periods.
Robert's Donation is going to the initial clean up of the old site. Leon and dedicated helpers have been working dismantling the collapsed and dangerous building and reclaiming many parts to include in his plan for bringing some of the elements of Cross Bell Youth Camp closer to the people on his stewarded land.
